Ranger Student's Field Reference/Status Cards - Video EXCLUSIVE

Ranger Student's Field Reference/Status Cards - Video EXCLUSIVE

EXCLUSIVE courtesy of Gibson' Tactical Tavern.

These were made at Darby. The student wanted to share what worked for his platoon. You CANNOT take your Ranger handbook or any preprinted OPORD shells or anything like that- they WILL be thrown out!

These are squad and platoon-level field notes for Ranger School- basically a handwritten “cheat sheet” on how to set up, brief, and execute movement and security formations in the field.

The notes cover:

• Leader’s Recon to the OP / Patrol Base How to build and hold the proper formation, even under indirect fire (don’t collapse into a file; maintain staggered column when possible).

• Security Halts Different configurations (daylight, low-visibility, limited-visibility) with where assault elements, guns, and headquarters go.

• Weasel Movement How the PSG and PL manage placement of machine guns (gun 1 and gun 2) within the formation.

• Symbols & Visual Aids Common tactical symbols (CASEVAC, EPW, casualty collection points, helicopter LZs, MASCAL, etc.) to use in briefs, terrain models, or range cards.

• Danger Area Crossings (LDA/roads) Step-by-step notes on how Bravo team elements and leadership move across, where to place automatic riflemen, grenadiers, etc., and reminders on when to move strategically instead of sprinting.

• Observation Post (OP) / ORP Notes How to transition from security halt to OP configuration, with machine gun sectors of fire marked at 40° offsets.

• Patrol Base Setup Clearing, security, and recon steps for establishing a patrol base.

• Briefs The order and flow for PL briefs, squad leader briefs, weapons squad leader briefs, PSG briefs, and assault 1 / assault 2 breakdowns.
